Most “Reality TV Shows” are Fake

HOLLYWOOD (Just Laugh) – After nearly four years of witnessing “reality tv” dominate the primetime television circuit, it has come to the attention of several key individuals in the industry that the programs we’ve been watching may not actually have much reality to them at all. Angry advocates were enraged, authorities were stunned, but we here at Just Laugh really don’t have much of an opinion one way or the other…

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again,” proclaimed Scott Sevener, Just Laugh’s Editor-in-Chief, “I don’t care if it’s real or not, as long as it’s entertaining. Now where’s my latte?!” The interview was then abruptly brought to an end as the editor went into severe caffeine withdrawals and had to be injected with a office-concocted emergency remedy of Mountain Dew, Espresso and Tequila. He then proceeded outside to take a brief walk which ended up lasting seven days and spanning four nearby cities.

Other members of the Editorial Staff, who prefer to remain unnamed because they were a bit “hungover” the morning of the interviews, made such statements as, “Well, duh! Of course they’re all fake – what do you think we are, a bunch of morons…wait, don’t print that!” and “No way! I seriously thought that all of those guys and gals were actually living out on that deserted island with a single set of clothes, no food, and sixteen unique and clashing personalities! It all seemed natural to me…” As the cloud of sarcasm finally began to fade, one last staff member was able and even quite willing to share some of his time and opinions for my cause…

“I did find myself getting a bit concerned about the allegations of some of my favorite programming actually been scripted,” began Jim “Scruffy” Johnson, Just Laugh’s resident Editor of Janitorial Services, “but the more I did think about it, the more I realized that it was such scripting that had actually gotten the shows where they are today and I didn’t really like them any less than before I knew that they had been planned out. There’s nothing that’s necessarily bad about the shows being scripted – it’s just that everyone had already been convinced that the shows were all completely live and uncensored, but this is America – what did they honestly expect?”

That’s right – for the last time, even if this slop that we continue to watch religiously on a weekly basis does turn out to be simply another manufactured manifestation from the Hollywood studios, as long as it kept us interested enough to keep tuning in, what’s the big deal? I don’t know about you, but I’ve got enough reality in my own life – when I do get home and have a chance to relax, both television and sex have been known to hit the hypothetical spot just right, and in the end it really doesn’t matter to me if either one of them is faking it…
